The Managing Authority

The Managing Authority is responsible for the Programme implementation and its overall management ensuring its institutional representation and guaranteeing the compliance with applicable Community and national rules, namely with regard to eligibility rules, information and publicity and monitoring and assessment procedures.

The 2007-2013 Atlantic Area Managing Authority is ensured by The North Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-N). It is composed by a representative of CCDR-N chair and two executive managers.

CCDR-N is a decentralised body of central government. Its mission is to promote the conditions permitting the integrated and sustainable development of Portugal North Region (NUT II), thereby contributing to the national cohesion.

The North Region of Portugal is an open economy with a long tradition in international trade. Located in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, its 144 kilometres of Atlantic coastline is a determinant factor of such economic tradition. The connection to the sea is a remarkable element of its cultural and historical heritage.
